What is dental pain?
Dental pain is discomfort in or around the teeth, gums, or jaw that can be caused by cavities, infections, wisdom teeth, grinding, or irritation of the gums. Symptoms may range from mild sensitivity to sharp or throbbing pain that can make eating, drinking, or sleeping difficult.
Symptoms of dental pain may include:
- toothache
- sensitivity to hot or cold foods and drinks
- pain while chewing
- swelling of the gums or face
- jaw pain
- bad taste or odor in the mouth
- redness of the gums
- headache
