What is Just In Case RxKit?

Pure Just-in-Case Rx Kit is there to help you feel more prepared and at ease, whether you’re at home or living in a campus dorm.

It includes commonly used prescription medications for everyday, non-emergency issues like pain, allergies, or minor infections.

You may choose to include essential emergency medications such as allergy treatments like an epinephrine auto-injector for severe allergic reactions, or naloxone for suspected opioid overdose situations.

The focus is on safety, fast response, and giving you access to potentially life-saving tools when every moment matters.

What can be prescribed for Pure Just in Case RxKit? You have a choice.

Emergency Instructions for Allergy first-aid meds in case of severe allergic reaction - Anaphylaxis:

1. Identify Anaphylaxis
Use the EpiPen if the person has two or more of these symptoms after contact with an allergen:

  • Hives/Itching: Skin redness or swelling.
  • Swelling: Specifically of the lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Difficulty Breathing: Wheezing, chest tightness, or a hoarse voice.
  • Weak Pulse: Feeling dizzy, fainting, or looking very pale/blue.
  • GI Issues: Severe stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea.

2. Call 911 Immediately
Tell the operator: “I am treating a person for a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) and have administered an EpiPen.” Anyone who receives epinephrine must go to the hospital by ambulance. A “rebound” reaction (biphasic anaphylaxis) can occur hours later once the initial dose wears off.
3. Administer the First-Aid Allergy Med depending on type of medication

  • See photos below for instructions

4. Monitor and Repeat
– Epinephrine works fast but is metabolized quickly.
– If symptoms do not improve or they get worse after 5 to 15 minutes, and paramedics have not arrived, administer a second EpiPen (if available) in the other leg.
5. Position for Safety

  • Have the person sit or lie down.
  • If they are having trouble breathing, sitting up is usually best.
  • If they feel faint or dizzy, lay them flat on their back with their legs raised.

Common treatment

medically appropriate:

Over-the-counter topical medications

Emergency Instructions for Opioid Overdose in case someone is irresponsive, blue/pale or not breathing – How to use Naloxane (Narcan):

1. Check & Call 911

  • Shout their name and rub your knuckles hard on their chest (sternum rub).
  • Call 911 immediately. Tell them: “I have someone unresponsive and not breathing.”

2. Administer Naloxone

  • Peel the package open.
  • Place the tip of the nozzle into one nostril.
  • Press the plunger firmly. Do not test or prime the device first.

3. Wait and Repeat

  • Wait 2-3 minutes. If they don’t wake up or breathe normally, use the second device in the other nostril.
  • Perform CPR or rescue breaths if you are trained.

4. Recovery Position

  • Once they are breathing, roll them onto their side to prevent choking.
  • Stay with them. Naloxone can wear off before the drugs do, and the person may stop breathing again
